  • Air Fry: an advanced convection function used with the supplied air fry basket, giving crisp results without turning the food or using much oil.
  • Smart Clean (hydrolytic): a low-temperature steam cycle that loosens dirt and food residue for easy wiping, working with the special easy-clean enamel.

Programmes / Functions

Oven functions (per the Whirlpool use and care guide):

  • Conventional: upper and bottom heating elements, 30°C to 260°C, for cooking any kind of dish on one shelf only.
  • Convect Bake: top and bottom heating elements with the fan for constant heat distribution, 30°C to 260°C. Recommended for cooking pre-packaged food quickly.
  • Forced Air: rear heating element and fan for even heat, 30°C to 260°C. Ideal for baking and cooking delicate food on 3 shelves at the same time, such as cakes that need to rise, cream puffs, biscuits, savoury puffs, swiss rolls and small vegetable gratins.
  • Pizza: forced air and bottom heating elements circulate hot air for even cooking and melted toppings, while the bottom element gives a crispy base.
  • Defrost: bottom heating with the fan circulating room temperature air, to speed up defrosting of delicate foods such as ice cream, cakes, cream, custard desserts and fruit cakes. For meat, fish and bread, the guide recommends Forced Air to accelerate the process.
  • Grill: radiant heat from the powerful upper element, 80°C to 230°C. Recommended for tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish and cheese toasts. Preheat for 3 minutes and slide the grill dish into either of the 2 spaces within the upper pair of support rails.
  • Maxi Grill: direct radiant heat from 2 powerful upper elements, 80°C to 230°C, cooking faster than the normal grill. Preheat for 3 minutes to help seal in the natural juices of the meat.
  • Turbo Grill: top central heating with the fan, 80°C to 230°C. The grill element cycles on and off to hold the set temperature while the fan circulates hot air, and it is recommended for large cuts of meat without needing to turn them over. Place the food on the 2nd or 3rd rack with the deep tray on the lowest shelf.
  • Multi-Cook: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 50°C to 260°C. Cooks various dishes at the same time at the same temperature, using a maximum of 2 racks. Recommended for gratin finishes and prolonged cooking such as lasagne, baked pasta, roast chicken and potatoes, as well as fish, vegetable side dishes and leavened cakes.
  • Air Fry: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 150°C to 230°C, used with the air fry basket. Suitable for french fries, chicken wings and nuggets without having to turn the food.
  • Delicate Cook: bottom heating element and fan, 50°C to 230°C, suited to pastries, cakes and non-dry sweets in baking tins. Place the food on a low level.
  • Eco Forced Air: rear heating element and fan with gentle, intermittent air circulation, 40°C to 230°C, to stop food drying out. The light stays off during cooking and the door should not be opened until the food is cooked, to optimise power consumption.
  • Smart Clean: a low-temperature steam cleaning cycle. Remove all accessories, pour 150ml of drinking water on the bottom of the cold oven, set the function at 220°C for 20 to 30 minutes, then let it cool and wipe with a wet cloth.

Controls and daily use:

  • Oven control panel: On/Off, temperature, function, time, lamp and Fast Preheat buttons with a display and navigation buttons to adjust settings.
  • Set the time: the display shows 12:00 on first use. Use the navigation buttons to set the hour, confirm with the time button, then set the minutes. The clock can only be set when the oven is in standby.
  • Duration and end time: set a cooking duration and delay the start by programming the end time. The oven starts automatically once set.
  • Preheating: a beep sounds when preheating has finished.
  • Favorites: save a function with its temperature and time as a favorite by holding the favorites button for 2 seconds. A new setting overwrites the previous one.
  • Child Lock: press and hold the lock buttons for 3 seconds to lock the control panel. It can also be activated during cooking.
  • Single cooking zones: turn the control knob to the desired position, low to high. Adjustment is continuous, and an LED lights when the zone is hot.
  • Dual cooking zone: turn the knob clockwise to between low and halfway to heat the inner zone only. Turn past halfway to operate both inner and outer zones, and past max to the detent position for the highest setting. Turn back anticlockwise to between halfway and low to return to the inner zone only.
  • Residual heat warning: the zone light stays on while the ceramic glass is hot and switches off once it has cooled.

Extra Information

At 90cm wide, this cooker is aimed at larger kitchens and keen cooks, and the 133L cavity with its five shelf positions leaves plenty of room for big roasts, multiple trays and the two-rack Multi-Cook function. The central dual zone on the hob is worth knowing about: turning the knob to between low and halfway heats the inner ring only, which suits smaller pans, while turning past halfway brings in the outer ring for larger pots and a stronger heat, and the detent position past max gives the highest output. The two 1,800W corner zones suit frying and boiling, while the 1,200W rear zones are better for simmering.

The use and care guide includes a cooking table that gives a useful starting point. It suggests, for example, frozen chips (1kg) at 220°C for about 15 minutes after a 5-minute preheat on level 3, lasagne (1kg) at 200°C for 30 to 35 minutes, roast chicken with potatoes at 180°C for 60 to 75 minutes on levels 2 and 4, and pizza on two racks at 220°C for 15 to 20 minutes. Times are approximate, so start with the lowest recommended value and move up if the food needs it. When cooking with Grill or Turbo Grill, a deep tray should always be placed on the lowest rack.

It is also worth knowing that the cooling fan keeps running for a while after a cooking program finishes, and that a fault code of HE1 on the display indicates a temperature sensor error that needs a service call. Never place cookware, foil or anything else on the bottom of the cavity, which can damage the enamel, and do not line the oven with foil. Do not leave utensils or tea towels on the hob, do not place hot lids directly on the glass (they can create a vacuum seal), and always lift pans rather than sliding them. The cooker is for household use only, not for professional or outdoor use.
