  • XXL 133L cavity: a 133L usable capacity (150L total) with 5 shelf positions, with the space for big roasts, several trays and batch baking.
  • Meat probe: a wired probe measures the core temperature of the food, and cooking is programmed to finish once the set temperature has been reached, so a roast is done exactly as you want it, inside and out.
  • Flexi Clean: choose Pyrolytic, which burns food residue to ash for an easy wipe, or Smart Clean, a low-temperature steam cycle for quick, gentle cleaning.
  • Air Fry: advanced convection with the top and circle elements and fan, used with the Air Fry basket for crispy results with much less oil and no need to turn the food.

Programmes / Functions

Oven functions (per the Whirlpool use and care guide):

  • Conventional: upper and bottom heating elements, 30°C to 260°C, for cooking any kind of dish on one shelf only.
  • Convect Bake: top and bottom heating elements with the fan for constant heat distribution, 30°C to 260°C. Recommended for cooking pre-packaged food quickly.
  • Forced Air: rear heating element and fan, 30°C to 260°C. Ideal for baking and cooking delicate food on 3 shelves at once, such as cakes that need to rise, cream puffs, sweet and savoury biscuits, savoury puffs, swiss rolls and small vegetable gratins.
  • Pizza: forced air and bottom heating elements circulate hot air for even cooking and melted toppings, while the bottom element gives a crispy base.
  • Defrost: bottom heating with the fan circulating room temperature air to speed up defrosting of delicate foods such as ice cream, cakes, cream, custard desserts and fruit cakes. For meat, fish and bread, the guide recommends using Forced Air to speed things up.
  • Grill: radiant heat from the powerful upper element, 80°C to 230°C. Recommended for tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish and cheese toasts. Preheat for 3 minutes and slide the grill dish into either of the 2 spaces within the upper pair of support rails.
  • Maxi Grill: direct radiant heat from 2 powerful upper elements, 80°C to 230°C, cooking faster than the normal Grill. Preheat for 3 minutes to help seal in the natural juices.
  • Turbo Grill: top central heating with the fan, 80°C to 230°C. The grill element cycles on and off to hold the set temperature while the fan circulates hot air. Recommended for large cuts of meat without turning, on the 2nd or 3rd rack with the deep tray on the lowest shelf. Keep the door closed.
  • Multi-Cook: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 50°C to 260°C. Cooks several dishes at the same temperature on up to 2 racks, ideal for gratin finishes and long cooks such as lasagne, baked pasta, roast chicken and potatoes.
  • Air Fry: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 150°C to 230°C, used with the Air Fry basket. Suitable for french fries, chicken wings and nuggets, with crispy results in a shorter time and without all the oil.
  • Delicate Cook: bottom heating element and fan, 50°C to 230°C, suited to pastries, cakes and non-dry sweets in baking tins, and to cooking that needs mostly bottom heat. Place the food on a low level.
  • Eco Forced Air: rear heating element and fan with gentle, intermittent air circulation, 40°C to 230°C, to stop food drying out. The light stays off during cooking and the door should not be opened until the food is cooked, to optimise power consumption.
  • Smart Clean: a low-temperature steam cycle. With all accessories removed and the oven cold, pour 150ml of drinking water on the bottom, set Smart Clean at 220°C for 20 to 30 minutes, let it cool, then wipe with a wet cloth.
  • Pyrolytic self-clean: a very high temperature cycle that burns off cooking spatters, with Low (approx. 2 hours), Medium (approx. 2.5 hours) and Strong (approx. 3 hours) options.

Controls and daily use:

  • Touch controls: on/off, function, temperature, time, Fast Preheat, light and navigation buttons with an LED digital display.
  • Setting the clock: the display shows 12:00 on first use. Use the navigation buttons to set the hour, confirm with the time button, then set the minutes. The clock can only be set when the oven is in standby.
  • Duration and end time: set how long to cook, or delay the start by programming the time you want cooking to finish, and the oven starts automatically.
  • Meat probe: place the food in the oven, connect the probe to the socket and keep it as far from the heat source as possible. The oven finishes cooking when the programmed core temperature is reached.
  • Favourites: hold the favourites button for 2 seconds to save the current function, temperature and time. A new setting overwrites the previous one.
  • Child Lock: press and hold the lock buttons for 3 seconds to lock or unlock the control panel, including during cooking.

Extra Information

The meat probe is what sets this oven apart from the other 90cm ovens in the range. Once the food is in the oven and the probe is plugged into its socket, cooking is programmed to finish when the core of the meat reaches your target temperature, taking the guesswork out of a roast. Keep the probe as far from the heat source as you can. If the display ever shows HE2, it is a probe temperature sensor fault, and HE1 is a cavity temperature sensor fault, and either needs a call to after-sales service.

With two self-cleaning options, you can match the clean to the mess. Smart Clean takes 150ml of water, 220°C and 20 to 30 minutes on a cold, empty oven, while the Pyrolytic cycle runs for roughly 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. Before a Pyrolytic cycle, take out every accessory and the shelf guides, wipe out heavy residue, clean the inner door glass and make sure any hotplates are switched off. The telescopic rails fit onto the shelf guides, so check that the runners move freely once they are fitted.

The use and care guide's cooking table gives helpful starting points, such as roast veal or beef at 200°C for 70 to 75 minutes, a pork roast at 200°C for 70 to 80 minutes, frozen chips at 220°C for 15 minutes, seared scotch fillet at 220°C for about 8 minutes and crumbed barramundi fillet at 230°C for 15 minutes. Before first use, heat the empty oven at 200°C for about an hour with the room ventilated to burn off manufacturing odours. The cooling fan can stay on for a while after cooking, which is normal.
