The dishwasher carries a 5 Star WELS water rating at 11.5 litres per wash and a 4 Star energy rating at 230 kWh per year, with a quiet 43dB noise level and Aquastop leak protection. Whirlpool appliances are distributed in Australia by Arisit Pty Limited.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • 6th Sense sensing: a sensor detects the level of soiling on your dishes and adjusts the programme accordingly. While it is sensing, an animation appears on the display (around 20 minutes) and the cycle duration is updated. It is present on every programme except Eco.
  • Power Clean: special water jets at the rear of the cavity wash highly soiled items more intensively. Fold down the rear plate holders in the lower rack, load pots and casseroles on an incline facing the jets and press the Power Clean button.
  • SpaceClean 3rd rack: a removable, large 3rd rack with a targeted Wash Zone for saucers, cups, glasses and cutlery, making extra space for the rest of the day's dishes.
  • Natural Dry: a convection drying system that opens the door automatically during or after the drying phase for better drying every day. It opens at a temperature that is safe for your kitchen cabinetry, and a protection foil is supplied for extra steam protection. It is on by default and can be turned off in the settings menu.
  • Half Load: when there are not many dishes to wash, Half Load saves water, electricity or time depending on the selected programme.
  • Sani Rinse: raises the final rinse temperature and adds an antibacterial wash to the selected programme, ideal for crockery and feeding bottles. The door must stay shut for the whole programme.
  • Eight programmes: Eco, Auto Intensive, Auto Mixed, Auto Fast, Rapid, Crystals, Prewash and Self-Clean, from a 12 minute refresh to an automatic cycle for heavily soiled pans.
  • Options: Power Clean, Half Load, Extra Dry, Silent, Sani Rinse and Delay, with a Key Lock to lock the controls.
  • Flexible racks: the upper rack height can be adjusted for bulky items in the lower rack, and foldable flaps hold wine glasses securely by the stem. Both racks have tip-up supports, and the lower rack has a pull-out Space Zone pan holder.
  • Delay start: delay the start of a programme from 30 minutes up to 24 hours.
  • Built-in water softener and descale alert: a salt-regenerated water softener helps prevent limescale, and a DESCALE alert tells you when it is time to run the Self-Clean programme with a descaling product.
  • Rinse aid dispenser: holds up to 110ml with six dosage levels and a refill indicator on the panel to help prevent water spots and streaks.
  • Aquastop: built-in leak protection, with a closed water tap indicator on the panel.
  • Dual Inverter motor: helps deliver quiet operation at 43dB.
  • 5 Star WELS water rating and 4 Star energy rating: 11.5 litres per wash and 230 kWh per year. The Eco 50° programme meets AS/NZS 2007.
Programmes / Functions

Programme guide (per the Whirlpool user manual programmes table):

  • Eco: an environmentally friendly programme with low energy consumption, suited to normally soiled loads. 50°C, 3 hours 40 minutes, 11.53 litres and 0.58 kWh per cycle. It adheres to AS/NZS 2007 and, although it runs longer than the other programmes, it uses less energy.
  • Auto Intensive: an automatic programme for heavily soiled crockery, especially pots and saucepans (not for delicate items). 65°C, 2 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes, 15.5 to 24.5 litres and 1.30 to 1.70 kWh per cycle, adjusted to the soil level.
  • Auto Mixed: an automatic programme for mixed soiled dishes with dried food residues. 55°C, 1 hour 20 minutes to 3 hours, 7.5 to 19.5 litres and 0.75 to 1.20 kWh per cycle.
  • Auto Fast: an automatic programme for everyday mixed soiled crockery that delivers optimal cleaning and drying in a shorter time. 50°C, 1 hour to 1 hour 50 minutes, 7.5 to 15.5 litres and 0.70 to 1.10 kWh per cycle.
  • Rapid: for lightly soiled dishes without dried-on food residue. 45°C, 30 to 40 minutes, 10.0 to 12.0 litres and 0.55 to 0.65 kWh per cycle. It has no drying phase, and the manual recommends placing the detergent on the bottom of the dishwasher.
  • Crystals: refreshes crockery that is planned to be washed later, with no detergent used. 45°C, 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, 12.5 to 16.5 litres and 0.95 to 1.20 kWh per cycle.
  • Prewash: refreshes crockery that is planned to be washed later, with no detergent used. 12 minutes, 4.5 litres and 0.10 kWh per cycle, with no drying phase.
  • Self-Clean: for maintenance of the dishwasher itself, to be run only when the dishwasher is empty and using a detergent designed for dishwasher maintenance. 65°C, 1 hour 15 minutes, 11.0 litres and 1.10 kWh per cycle.

Options and functions:

  • Power Clean: additional power jets give a more intensive wash in the lower rack, recommended for pots and casseroles.
  • Half Load: for smaller loads, saving water, electricity or time depending on the programme. Remember to reduce the amount of detergent. A 3 second press opens the settings menu.
  • Extra Dry: a higher final rinse temperature and extended drying phase for improved drying. It lengthens the cycle.
  • Silent: suitable for night-time operation, limiting noise during the wash phases. It increases the cycle time depending on the base programme. A 3 second press activates the Key Lock.
  • Sani Rinse: sanitises washed dishes by increasing the final rinse temperature and adding an antibacterial wash. Natural Dry will not open the door while Sani Rinse is on.
  • Delay: delay the start of a programme between 30 minutes and 24 hours. Press Delay repeatedly to adjust it, and press once more at 24 hours to deactivate it. It cannot be set once a programme has started.
  • Key Lock: a 3 second press of the Silent button locks the control panel except for the On/Off button. Press again for 3 seconds to unlock.
  • Natural Dry: active by default and can be switched off in the settings menu.
  • Option compatibility: not all options can be used together or on every programme. If an option is not compatible, its indicator flashes three times and a beep sounds, and the option is not enabled.
  • Settings menu: switch the appliance on, hold the Half Load (Settings) button for 3 seconds, scroll through the settings and use Start/Pause to view and save a value. Settings include water hardness level (0 to 5, default 3), rinse aid level (0 to 5), Natural Dry and Sound, with a factory reset.
  • Starting a programme: check the water tap is open, press On/Off, load the racks, fill the detergent dispenser, select a programme and any options, then close the door and press Start/Pause. The end of the cycle is signalled by a sound and END on the display.
  • Changing a running programme: possible only if it has just begun. Hold On/Off for more than 3 seconds to reset, wait for the drain cycle to finish (around 1 minute), then select a new programme and options.
  • Adding extra crockery: open the door slightly to avoid splashing (Caution: hot steam), add the dishes, close the door and press Start/Pause to resume.
  • Interruptions: if the door is opened or there is a power cut, the cycle stops and resumes only when you close the door and press Start/Pause.
  • Alerts and error codes: indicators for closed water tap, salt refill, rinse aid refill and DESCALE. Codes include F6 E1 (control panel not responding), F7 E3 or F9 E1 (not draining), F8 E3 (filter clogged or limescale), F8 E5 (valve blocked or faulty) and H2O (no water supply).

Extra Information

Use only detergents designed for dishwashers, and place the detergent in the dry dispenser only, with any prewash detergent placed directly inside the tub. Dishwasher detergents are strongly alkaline and can be extremely dangerous if swallowed, so avoid contact with skin and eyes and keep children away when the door is open. No detergent is used on the Crystals and Prewash programmes, and no pre-treatment of dishes is needed on any programme. Multifunctional tablets alone will not give drying results as good as liquid rinse aid, so keep the rinse aid dispenser filled.

Scrape off food residue and empty glasses before loading, but you do not need to rinse under running water, as pre-rinsing increases water and energy use. Load very soiled dishes and pans in the lower rack where the water sprays are stronger, place containers with their openings facing downwards, and make sure lids, handles and trays do not stop the spray arms rotating. Knives and sharp utensils go in the cutlery basket points down. Wooden crockery and cutlery, delicately decorated or antique glasses, synthetic parts that cannot withstand high temperatures, and copper and tin crockery are not suitable for the dishwasher.

At the end of the cycle wait a few minutes before unloading, to avoid burns, and unload the lower rack first. For even better drying, leave the door open for an additional 15 minutes after the cycle ends. If the dishwasher is not used for a while, run a high-temperature programme monthly to keep it fresh. Programme durations on the display are estimates, and the sensor calibration can add up to 20 minutes. Whirlpool appliances are distributed in Australia by Arisit Pty Limited, based in Dandenong South, Victoria.
