Product Overview

The Whirlpool W4OMK581RU1 is a 60cm built-in electric multi-function oven available in Stainless Steel (W4OMK581RU1XA) or Black (W4OMK581RU1BA), with a 71L enamelled cavity, 5 shelf positions and telescopic rails. It brings together Air Fry, Cook 3, Forced Air, Turbo Grill and Pizza functions with Hybrid Flexi Clean, which lets you choose between a high-temperature Pyrolytic cycle and a low-temperature Smart Clean steam cycle, so baking, roasting, grilling and crispy air-fried favourites are all handled by one oven.

Push-in knobs select the function and temperature (60°C up to 250°C), while an LED digital display looks after the clock, cooking time, delayed start and timer. A full glass door with a handle in your chosen finish completes the look, and the oven fits a 560mm wide cut-out. It measures 595mm x 595mm x 551mm, is rated 3,300W at 220-240V (16 amp) and must be installed by a qualified person.

Whirlpool appliances are distributed in Australia by Arisit Pty Limited.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • 71L capacity: a large enamelled cavity with 5 shelf positions, with room for family roasts, multiple trays and batch baking.
  • Hybrid Flexi Clean: choose Pyrolytic, a very high-temperature cycle that turns food residue into ash you simply wipe away, or Smart Clean, a gentle low-temperature steam cycle for lighter mess.
  • Air Fry: crisp up foods with minimal oil, ideal for frozen foods such as fries and chicken nuggets, as well as fresh vegetables, meats and fish.
  • Cook 3: cook 3 different dishes at the same time on different levels, thanks to an airflow that stops aromas and flavours from mixing.
  • Forced Air: preheated air is circulated through the cavity by a convection system for moist, juicy results, with up to 3 shelves in use at once.
  • Telescopic rails: make it easy to check on cooking, and to insert, slide out or remove shelves and casseroles.
  • Turbo Grill and Maxi Cooking: fan-assisted grilling creates a spit-roast effect, and Maxi Cooking is made for large joints above 2.5kg.
  • Bread AUTO and Pastry AUTO: dedicated settings that choose the temperature and baking time for bread and cakes automatically.
  • LED digital display: shows the clock and sets the cooking time, delayed start and timer, with push-in knobs for the function and temperature.
  • Power Management: choose Hi (above 3kW) or Lo (under 2.9kW) in the settings menu to suit your household power supply.
Programmes / Functions

Oven functions (per the Whirlpool quick guide):

  • Conventional: for cooking any kind of dish on one shelf only.
  • Rising: helps sweet or savoury dough to rise. Turn the thermostat knob to the Rising position (40°C) with the selection knob on Conventional.
  • Forced Air: for cooking different foods that need the same temperature on several shelves (maximum three) at the same time, without odours being transferred from one food to another.
  • Air Fry: the cavity heats up while the fan circulates hot air, for many foods with less oil. Place the food in a single layer on the Air Fry basket without overlapping, put the basket on the wire shelf and add a baking tray on a lower level to catch crumbs and drips. Avoid using multiple trays.
  • Pizza: for baking different types and sizes of pizza and bread. Swap the position of the baking trays halfway through cooking.
  • Eco Forced Air: for roasts and stuffed roasting joints on a single shelf, with gentle intermittent air circulation so food does not dry out excessively. The light stays off during cooking but can be switched on again.
  • Grill: for grilling steaks, kebabs and sausages, cooking vegetables au gratin or toasting bread. When grilling meat, place a dripping pan on any level below the wire shelf with 200ml of drinking water.
  • Turbo Grill: for roasting large joints of meat (legs, roast beef, chicken). Use a dripping pan below the wire shelf with 200ml of drinking water to collect the cooking juices.
  • Maxi Cooking: for large joints of meat above 2.5kg. Turn the meat over during cooking so both sides brown evenly, and baste it every so often.
  • Bread AUTO: automatically selects the temperature and baking time for bread. Start with the oven cold and leave the thermostat knob on 0/AUTO.
  • Pastry AUTO: automatically selects the temperature and baking time for cakes. Start with the oven cold and leave the thermostat knob on 0/AUTO.
  • Smart Clean: a low-temperature steam cycle. Pour 100-120ml of drinking water into the bottom of the oven and turn the selection and thermostat knobs to the Smart Clean icon, starting with the oven cold.
  • Pyro (automatic cleaning): a very high-temperature cycle that eliminates cooking spatters. Turn the selection and thermostat knobs to the Pyro icon and the function starts automatically, with the door locked and the oven light off.

Controls and daily use:

  • Selection knob: turn to a function symbol to switch the oven on, and back to the off position to switch it off.
  • Thermostat knob: turn to the required temperature to start the selected function. The function will not start with the knob on 0/AUTO.
  • Display and buttons: set the clock, the cooking duration, the cooking end time for delayed start and a timer. The light button switches the oven light on or off.

Extra Information

This is the oven for people who want Pyrolytic cleaning but do not want to be locked into it. Hybrid Flexi Clean puts both options on the dial, so a quick steam Smart Clean handles everyday splashes and the Pyro cycle is saved for baked-on roasts and greasy mess. Pyro runs at very high temperature, so remove every accessory and the shelf guides before you start, and make sure the room is well ventilated.

The first time you switch the oven on you will be asked to set the time, and then to choose the power setting. It ships set to Hi (above 3kW), so if your home supply is under 2.9kW, switch to Lo by turning the selection knob to the setting icon and holding two buttons for five seconds. Then heat the empty oven at 250°C for about one hour with the room aired, to burn off any manufacturing odours.

The use and care guide includes an Air Fry cooking table with starting points: frozen fries (500-700g) at 200°C for 20 to 30 minutes, frozen chicken nuggets at 200°C for 15 to 20 minutes, fish sticks at 220°C for 15 to 20 minutes, homemade fries (300-800g) at 200°C for 25 to 40 minutes, chicken wings (200-800g) at 220°C for 20 to 40 minutes and fish fillets at 200°C for 15 to 25 minutes. Always put the Air Fry tray on the wire shelf and add an empty tray on the lowest level to catch grease. Both finishes share the same use and care guide and features, so choose W4OMK581RU1XA for stainless steel or W4OMK581RU1BA for black.
