Product Overview

The Sirius SL920FRESCO1200 is a 1200mm 'Stella' undermount rangehood from the Valentina Collection, built to work over a BBQ in the alfresco area or over a high-powered cooktop indoors. Twin onboard Green Energy motors deliver up to 2000m³/h of extraction, so smoke, steam and grease are pulled away quickly while you cook and entertain.

The stainless steel body slides up into the cabinetry for a clean, seamless look, with 8 bright LED lights, three 25mm baffle filters and four speed settings (three plus a booster) controlled by buttons or the supplied remote. A 10 minute run-on timer clears lingering odours after cooking, and automatic shut-off looks after the rest.

Hand-crafted in Italy and suited to BBQ, gas, induction and electric cooking, the SL920FRESCO1200 suits cooktops up to 1200mm wide and sits comfortably in the Stella Alfresco Range alongside the 850mm and 1500mm models.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • Twin onboard Green Energy motors: two stainless steel Green Energy motors give twice the extraction power of a single motor, up to 2000m³/h, while using significantly less energy. They are designed to offer exceptional power, airflow and noise reduction without the additional running costs, with a maximum power draw of just 420W.
  • One hood, indoors or outdoors: install it over a BBQ in the alfresco area or as high-powered extraction over an indoor cooktop. It suits BBQ, gas, induction and electric cooking on cooktops from 900mm up to 1200mm wide.
  • Four speed settings: speed 1 handles everyday cooking, speed 2 suits searing steaks, speed 3 copes with high heat wok cooking, and speed 4 (the booster) is for burning, heavy smoke or strong odours.
  • Powerful yet quiet: the European motors quickly remove smoke, steam, heat, odours and airborne particles, with an approximate operating noise range of 55dBA to 75dBA depending on speed and installation.
  • Three 25mm baffle filters: interlocking C-shaped baffles fit into an additional catchment channel and force air through a zig-zag path that catches oil, grease and other contaminants. They also act as a flame barrier to protect your ductwork.
  • 304 stainless steel, dishwasher-safe filters: the baffle filters slide out easily and clean effortlessly in the dishwasher, and the built-in filter reminder tells you when it is time.
  • 8 x 2.5W LED lighting: energy-efficient, long-lasting and heat resistant, with bright, even light over the cooking surface. Brightness is dimmable and the colour temperature can be adjusted to suit your BBQ area or kitchen.
  • Remote control and button control: operate the fan, lights and timer from the hood or from a distance with the supplied 6 channel remote, which includes a changeable transmission code so neighbouring rangehoods do not interfere with each other.
  • 10 minute run-on timer: one touch keeps the fan running for 10 minutes after cooking to clear lingering smoke and odours, then the rangehood switches itself off.
  • Automatic shut-off: the unit turns itself off 4 hours after the buttons or remote were last used, so a forgotten fan never runs all night.
  • Induction suited: induction cooking produces up to 50% more condensation than gas, so the high extraction rate is chosen to keep moisture from building up in the filters and dripping back into your cooking.
  • Extra deep coverage: a 540mm deep body gives extra front-to-back coverage over high-performance cooktops, capturing grease, odours and airborne particles that a shallower hood can miss.
  • Slimline undermount design: the stainless steel body hides away inside the cabinet or canopy for a seamless finish, with adjustable side springs and four levelling screws to bring it flush.
  • Flexible ducting options: a top outlet takes 200mm ducting or 2 x 150mm ducting, and the motors include non-return valves. Sirius EasyRoofKit, EasyEaveKit and EasyWallKit ducting kits are available for roof, eave and external wall installations.
  • Gas interlock ready: link the rangehood to an Air Check interlock and electronic gas valve so a gas BBQ cannot be lit until the extractor reaches optimum airflow (minimum extraction 2000m³/h).
  • Hand-crafted in Italy: Sirius has been crafting rangehoods in Sassoferrato, Italy since 1996, and the Valentina Collection is selected for Australian living.
Programmes / Functions
  • Control panel: Six buttons on the hood control everything: A (light), B to E (fan speeds 1 to 4) and F (auto run-on).
  • Light on / off (button A): Turns the 8 LED lights on and off.
  • Dimmable light: Press and hold button A to dim or increase the brightness to the level you want.
  • Fan speed 1 (button B): Everyday cooking.
  • Fan speed 2 (button C): Searing steaks and moderate heat.
  • Fan speed 3 (button D): High heat wok cooking.
  • Fan speed 4 (button E, booster): Burning, heavy smoke or strong odours.
  • Auto run-on (button F): Press F and the rangehood runs for 10 minutes to clear the air, then switches off automatically.
  • Dynamic light colour temperature: With the rangehood off, hold F until the lights come on, then hold A to cycle through the Kelvin colour temperatures. Hold F until the lights switch off to save your choice.
  • Filter cleaning reminder: After 30 hours of operation the control buttons flash to show the filters are due for cleaning. Press the timer button to reset the reminder.
  • Automatic shut-off: The unit switches itself off 4 hours after the remote or manual buttons were last used.
  • Remote control: A 6 channel remote (433.92MHz, powered by a 12V 23A alkaline battery) works with the rangehood out of the box with factory-preset codes. When the rangehood is first turned on, hold the light button for 5 seconds to pair it.
  • Remote buttons: Light on / off; motor on (speed 1) / off; reduce speed; increase speed; and the 10 minute shut-off timer.
  • Changing the remote code: If two rangehoods are installed in the same room or nearby, change one remote's code. Press the +, power and - buttons together for 2 seconds, then press + and - within 5 seconds. The LEDs flash 3 times to confirm. This permanently deletes the preset codes.
  • Learning the new code: Press the red main power-off button on the hood, then restore power. Within 15 seconds press the light button to synchronise the control unit with the new code.
  • Resetting to factory settings: Press +, power and - together for 2 seconds, then press the light and timer buttons within 5 seconds. The LEDs flash 6 times to confirm.
  • Emergency button: If the remote stops working, use the emergency button to switch the appliance off. Reset it after any repairs.
  • Remote battery: Replace the battery every year for the best range. Removing the battery can cause the remote to lose its link with the rangehood, in which case repeat the new code procedure.
  • Air Check gas interlock (optional): Links the rangehood to an electronic gas valve so a gas BBQ cannot be lit until the extractor proves minimum airflow.
  • Usage tip: Turn the fan on 10 minutes before cooking to get the best performance.

Installation & Requirements
  • Installation type: Built-in undermount, fitted into a cut-out in the cabinet or canopy. The rangehood is heavy, so two people are needed for installation.
  • Qualified installer: The rangehood must be installed and connected to the power supply by a qualified technician.
  • Cut-out size: Allow a cut-out of 1165mm wide x 505mm deep. Side springs adjust to the thickness of the board and four adjusting screws bring the hood flush; the cut-out is a guide only, so always measure the actual product first.
  • Installation height: 1200mm to 1600mm above the trivets for outdoor use over BBQs; 600mm to 700mm over induction cooktops and 650mm to 750mm over gas cooktops when used indoors.
  • Cooktop coverage: Match the rangehood to the cooktop so the whole cooking area is covered. This model suits cooktops up to 1200mm wide.
  • Ducting: Ducting is required to the outside, using 200mm constant-diameter ducting (or 2 x 150mm) and a 210mm outlet hole. Flexible ducting is not permitted. Keep ducting as short as possible with few bends, as each elbow reduces efficiency by about 1 metre, and do not screw the ducting to the hood because it can block the non-return valves.
  • Ducting kits: Sirius EasyRoofKit, EasyEaveKit and EasyWallKit ducting kits are available separately; using Sirius ducting extends the warranty period.
  • Power supply: 240V supply with an earth connection, suitable for a 10AMP circuit. If the appliance is not fitted with a plug, disconnection from the supply must be provided in the fixed wiring.
  • Ventilation: Provide adequate ventilation when the rangehood is used with gas or other fuel appliances. Have flued gas appliances tested by a competent person after installation.
  • Gas interlock: Optional Air Check interlock links the rangehood to an electronic gas valve; this needs a minimum extraction of 2000m³/h.

Extra Information

The SL920FRESCO1200 is one of three widths in the Stella Alfresco Range, alongside the 850mm twin motor and 1500mm triple motor models. Because it carries twin motors, it is designed to be ducted with 200mm ducting, which is what lets it deliver its full 2000m³/h at the booster speed. Fitting the correct ducting from day one is the single biggest thing you can do for performance and noise.

It is just as happy over an indoor induction or gas cooktop as it is over a BBQ. Induction cooking produces around 50% more condensation than gas, so the extra extraction capacity matters, and the dimmable, colour-adjustable LED lighting means you can match the light to the mood of the room. Turning the fan on 10 minutes before you start cooking helps it capture everything from the first sizzle.

If you are installing over a gas BBQ, ask your installer about the Air Check interlock, which links the extractor to the gas valve so the BBQ cannot be lit until the rangehood is moving enough air. The hood is made in Italy by Sirius, which has been crafting rangehoods in Sassoferrato since 1996.
