Midea MCG90 90cm Gas Cooktop

• Black glass or stainless steel surface: choose a sleek black glass top (MCG90GBL) or a stainless steel top (MCG90SS), both easy to clean after every use.
• 5 cooking zones: one 3.8kW triple ring wok burner, one 3.0kW rapid burner, two 1.75kW semi-rapid burners and one 1.0kW auxiliary burner, for everything from stir-fries to slow simmers.
• 11.3kW total output: 40.68MJ/h of natural gas input across the five burners.
• Defendi burners: quality burner caps for stable, even flames.
• Flame failure device: automatically cuts off the gas to a burner if its flame goes out, adding an extra layer of kitchen safety.
• Electronic ignition: press and turn a knob to light a burner without matches or lighters.
• Cast iron pan supports: durable cast iron supports provide stability for all your pots and pans, with a cast iron wok adapter for wok cooking.
• Front control knobs: variable flame control from high heat to a low simmer, with the knobs at the front for easy reach.
• Natural gas or LPG: supplied for natural gas, with an LPG conversion kit included.

• Electronic ignition: press in the knob of the burner you want and turn it anti-clockwise to the maximum position to light it; hold the knob in for about 15 seconds after the flame lights, then continue turning to set the flame.
• Flame failure device: each burner has a flame failure safety device that stops the gas flow to the burner if the flame goes out.
• Variable flame control: the operating position must be between the maximum (large flame) and minimum (small flame) positions. The minimum setting is at the end of the anti-clockwise rotation of the knob, and turning the knob fully clockwise to the black circle switches the burner off.
• Burner symbols: the symbol on the control panel next to each knob shows which burner it operates.
• Triple ring wok burner: 3.8kW (13.68MJ/h natural gas) burner designed for high heat wok cooking, supported by a cast iron wok adapter.
• Rapid burner: 3.0kW (10.8MJ/h natural gas) for fast boiling and searing.
• Semi-rapid burners: 2 x 1.75kW (6.3MJ/h natural gas each) for everyday frying, boiling and sauces.
• Auxiliary burner: 1.0kW (3.6MJ/h natural gas) for gentle simmering and small pots.
• Power failure lighting: in a power failure the burners can be lit carefully with a match.
• Relighting: if a burner flame is accidentally extinguished, turn the burner control off and do not try to relight it for at least one minute.
• Not lighting, no spark: check the electricity supply, and wipe any foreign matter from the ignition plug with a dry cloth.
• Badly ignited or unstable flame: check the gas supply is fully open, the burners are dry, the burner lid and flame spreader are assembled correctly and the holes in the flame spreader are not clogged.
• Yellow flame: check the correct gas is being used and that the burner lid is assembled correctly. A clear blue flame without yellow tipping is correct.
• Flame goes out in use: a boil-over or a strong draught may have blown it out. Turn the burner off, check for draughts such as open windows, wait one minute and relight.
• Gas smell: stop using the cooktop, close the gas valve, ventilate by opening windows and call the service centre from a phone outside. Do not switch electrical appliances on or off.

• Gas standard: installation must conform with AS/NZS 5601.1, local gas fitting regulations, municipal building codes and local electrical regulations.
• Gas supply: supplied to run on natural gas only and cannot be used on any other gas without modification. Conversion to LPG must only be carried out by a qualified person using the conversion kit.
• Gas connection: connect the elbow fitting to the appliance gas manifold, checking its seals. For natural gas, connect the natural gas regulator with integral test point; for LPG, use the brass test point adaptor. The connection point, test point and regulator adjustment screw must stay accessible with the cooktop installed.
• Flexible hose: if used, the hose assembly must comply with AS/NZS 1869 (class B or D), be restrained from accidental contact with the flue outlet of an underbench oven, and be inspectable along its length. The supply connection point should be 800 to 850mm above the floor, within 250mm outside the width of the appliance.

• Clearance above: 700mm is required between the highest point of the hob surface (including the burners) and the underside of any horizontal surface directly above it. Allow 50mm clearance around the appliance from combustible materials.
• Clearance below: a gap of at least 25mm and at most 74mm is required between the underneath of the cooktop and any surface below it. An oven fitted below must have forced ventilation.
• Adjacent surfaces: panels next to the cooktop must be non-flammable, and any laminate and glue used should be heat resistant.
• After installation: the fitter must carry out a full operational test and a leak test with soapy water (never a naked flame), light all burners individually and together, and fix the duplicate data plate in an accessible place near the cooktop.
• Ventilation: a gas cooktop produces heat and moisture, so install in a well ventilated kitchen with natural ventilation or a mechanical extractor such as a rangehood.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

To light a burner, press in its control knob and turn it anti-clockwise to the maximum position. Keep the knob pressed for about 15 seconds after the flame has lit so the flame failure device can settle, then continue turning anti-clockwise to set the flame between the maximum and minimum positions. If a burner has not lit after 15 seconds, stop, open the cupboard door or ventilate and wait at least one minute before trying again. If a flame is blown out, turn the knob off and wait a minute before relighting.

For best results and gas efficiency, match the pan to the burner: use pots and pans with a thick, flat base that sits fully over the burner without overhanging the edge, and keep flames from licking up the sides. Avoid convex or concave bases, never place cookware on one side of a burner, never put cookware directly on the burner or place flame tamers or mats between the pan and pan support, and use lids where you can. Turn handles to the side or centre without extending over adjacent burners, and turn the burner off before removing cookware. The 3.8kW triple ring wok burner is best used with the cast iron wok adapter.

Never leave the cooktop unattended while cooking, keep tea towels and cloths clear of the flames, and do not spray aerosols nearby while it is in use. Heat fats slowly and watch food fried at a high flame, and never move a pan of hot fat. On the black glass model, if the glass is cracked, switch the appliance off to avoid electric shock. Wearers of pacemakers should consult a doctor before use. The cooktop is supplied for natural gas, and converting the injectors for LPG, including adjusting the minimum flame to about 3 to 4mm, must be done by a qualified technician. It is for domestic cooking only.
