Product Overview

The Midea MC-IF7216G4-A1 is a 60cm induction cooktop with a black Schott Ceran glass surface that is durable, scratch-resistant and easy to wipe clean. Four cooking zones deliver up to 7200W in total, with two 1500W zones and two 2100W zones, and nine heat settings give you control from a gentle simmer to a rapid boil.

Induction heats the pan directly rather than the glass, so cooking is quick and responsive. Slider-style touch controls, an individual timer for each zone, a boost function for rapid cooking and Midea G4 Technology for continuous heating at low power make everyday cooking simpler.

Safety features include a child lock, a residual heat indicator, automatic pan detection and an automatic shut-off. It fits a 560 x 490mm cut-out in a standard 60cm benchtop and is connected directly to the mains by a licensed electrician.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • Schott Ceran glass surface: a durable, scratch-resistant black glass top that is easy to clean.
  • 4 induction zones: two 1500W zones and two 2100W zones, with 7200W of total installed power.
  • G4 Technology: continuous heating at low power.
  • 9 heat settings: from delicate warming and melting to searing and boiling.
  • Boost function: for rapid cooking.
  • Touch controls: responsive touch controls with a lock-out key and an ON/OFF control.
  • Timer: set a timer of up to 99 minutes to switch one or more zones off, or use it as a minute minder.
  • Child lock: locks the controls to prevent unintended use.
  • Residual heat indicator: an "H" alerts you while a cooking zone is still hot.
  • Pan detection and auto shut-off: zones only heat when suitable cookware is detected, and switch off automatically after set working times.
Programmes / Functions
  • Start cooking: touch the ON/OFF control, place suitable cookware on a zone, then select a heat setting with the "-" or "+" control. If no setting is chosen within 1 minute, the hob switches off.
  • Finish cooking: turn the zone down to "0" or touch "-" and "+" together, then touch the ON/OFF control to switch the whole cooktop off.
  • Heat settings 1 to 9: 1-2 for delicate warming, melting and gentle simmering; 3-4 for reheating, rapid simmering and cooking rice; 5-6 for pancakes; 7-8 for sauteing and cooking pasta; 9 for stir-frying, searing and boiling water.
  • Control lock: touch and hold the lock control to lock the controls ("Lo" shows); only the ON/OFF control still works. Touch the lock control to unlock.
  • Timer as a minute minder: set up to 99 minutes without a zone selected; the timer counts down and a buzzer sounds for 30 seconds when it finishes, without switching any zone off.
  • Timer to switch zones off: select a zone and set a timer of up to 99 minutes. Several zones can each have their own timer, and the zone switches off automatically when its time is up.
  • Residual heat indicator: "H" shows which cooking zone is still hot and disappears once the surface has cooled to a safe temperature.
  • Pan detection: no heating takes place without a suitable pan. If the display flashes alternately with the heat setting, the pan is unsuitable, too small or not centred, and the display turns off after 1 minute. Pans smaller than 140mm may not be detected.
  • Small article detection: if an unsuitable pan or small item such as a knife, fork or key is left on the hob, it goes to standby after 1 minute.
  • Auto shut-off: the hob switches off automatically if you forget, after default working times of 8 hours at levels 1 to 3, 4 hours at levels 4 to 6 and 2 hours at levels 7 to 9. When the pot is removed, the hob switches off after 2 minutes.
  • Cooling fan: a built-in fan cools the electronics and may keep running after the hob is switched off; do not switch off the power at the wall while it runs.
  • Error codes: if a zone switches itself off and an error code shows, note the code, switch the hob off at the wall and call a qualified technician.

Installation & Requirements
  • Installer requirement: must be installed and connected to the mains by a suitably qualified person or licensed electrician. Connection to a good earth is essential and mandatory.
  • Electrical connection: 220-240V~ or 380-415V~, 50/60Hz, 7200W. The hob is connected directly to the mains by a single-phase connection with an omnipolar isolating switch or circuit-breaker providing at least a 3mm contact opening in all poles. Do not use adapters, reducers or branching devices. Check with an electrician that the domestic wiring is suitable for the power drawn.
  • Isolating switch: the isolating switch must stay easily accessible to the user with the hob installed.
  • Cabinet cut-out: 560mm wide x 490mm deep (+4/+1mm), with at least 50mm of space kept around the hole.
  • Benchtop: at least 30mm thick, square and level, made of a heat-resistant and insulated material. Wood and similar fibrous or hygroscopic material must be impregnated.
  • Side clearance: at least 3mm between the sides of the hob and the inner surfaces of the worktop.
  • Clearance above: at least 760mm between the hob and any cupboard above it.
  • Ventilation: keep the air inlet and outlet unblocked, with at least 50mm below the hob and a 5mm air exit. Fit a wooden insert, fixed by screws, at a minimum 50mm below the hob and keep the ventilation holes around the hob clear of the worktop.
  • Fixing: fix the hob to the worktop with the 2 brackets on the underside, adjusting them to suit the benchtop thickness. The brackets must not touch the inner surfaces of the worktop.
  • Oven below: if installed above an oven, the oven must have a built-in cooling fan. A thermal protection barrier is needed below the hob if it is installed above a drawer or cupboard space.
  • Do not install above: a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine or clothes dryer, as humidity may damage the hob electronics.
  • Surrounding surfaces: adhesive and laminates must resist at least 150 degrees C, and the rear wall and adjacent surfaces must withstand 90 degrees C.
  • Cookware requirement: induction-compatible cookware with a magnetic base that sits flat on the glass and is the same size as the zone.

Extra Information

Induction cooking works by electromagnetic vibrations generating heat directly in the pan rather than indirectly through the glass, which only becomes hot because the pan warms it. Use cookware marked with the induction symbol, or check that a magnet is attracted to the base. Pure stainless steel, aluminium or copper without a magnetic base, glass, wood, porcelain, ceramic and earthenware are not suitable. Choose a smooth, flat-based pan that sits flat on the glass and matches the size of the cooking zone, and always centre it on the zone.

When food comes to the boil, reduce the heat setting, and use a lid to cut cooking times and save energy. Take care when frying, as oil and fat heat up very quickly, especially on boost, and can ignite at very high temperatures. Never leave the cooktop unattended, never use it as a work or storage surface, and keep magnetisable items such as credit cards and electronic devices away from it. If the surface is cracked, switch the appliance off at the mains to avoid electric shock. People with a pacemaker or other electrical implant should consult their doctor before use. It is intended for household and similar applications.
