Product Overview

The ILVE HBBQ100 is a 100cm built-in gas BBQ from the Professional Plus range, made entirely from AISI 304 stainless steel and designed for outdoor installation. Three separate, removable 8mm plates give you a generous cooking surface for grilling, searing and flat-top cooking in the garden or on the terrace.

Three burners rated at 3.15kW each (9.45kW in total) heat the plates quickly, and battery-powered integrated ignition lights each burner with a single push of the knob. Insulated side controls stay comfortable to use, and a grease collection tray catches fats and oils for easy cleaning.

The BBQ works with natural gas or LPG and is available on its own or with the optional stainless steel dome lid, which has a built-in thermometer and turns the BBQ into an oven for roasts and whole chickens.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • Built-in 100cm design: made entirely from AISI 304 stainless steel and designed to be built into your outdoor kitchen, with a recess size of 1010 x 510mm and a Satin finish on the body and knobs.
  • Three separate plates: three removable plates, each 460 x 285mm and 8mm thick, sit over their own burners and lift out individually with the supplied handles for cooking and cleaning.
  • Grill and smooth plate options: the ribbed grill plate is recommended for meat and fish, and the smooth plate for vegetables, so one BBQ handles the whole menu.
  • Three powerful burners: 3 x 3.15kW burners, 9.45kW in total, with rapid heating of the plates in 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Fast, high plate temperatures: the plates reach 100°C in about 3 minutes, 200°C in 9 minutes and 275°C in 16 minutes for quick searing.
  • Integrated battery ignition: push the knob in and turn it to light the burner, powered by a single AA battery in the compartment under the knob.
  • Thermocouple safety on each burner: a safety thermocouple keeps the gas flowing only while the flame is lit, for added peace of mind.
  • Insulated side controls: side-mounted control knobs with clear markings for burner detection, minimum, maximum and closed keep your hands away from the heat.
  • Grease collection tray: a removable tray collects fats and oils, and a little water in the tray makes cleaning even easier.
  • Natural gas or LPG: works with natural gas or LPG, with a burner air adjustment screw and replaceable injectors for the change of fuel by a licensed gas fitter.
  • Optional stainless steel dome lid: add the COPHBBQ100 lid with built-in thermometer, splash guards and heated shelf to roast whole chickens, rolled roasts and large food with an oven effect.
  • Includes a spatula: the BBQ comes with a spatula for turning food and scraping the plates.
  • Outdoor ready: stainless steel construction is resistant to humidity, ideal for the garden or terrace, and the BBQ is built in accordance with AS/NZS 5601.
Programmes / Functions
  • Control knobs: each burner has its own knob with positions for burner detection, minimum, maximum and closed, so you can set up different heat zones across the three plates.
  • Before you light: check all gas connections, open the lid and check every knob is in the closed (0) position and the plates are clean. Then open the general gas tap or the LPG cylinder valve.
  • Lighting a burner: press the knob in and turn it to MAX. Hold it in for at least 5 seconds (automatic igniter), release it and check visually that the burner has lit. If it does not light, turn the knob to closed and repeat the procedure.
  • If the ignition does not work: check the AA 1.5V battery under the knob and replace it if needed. As a last resort, lift the plates with the handles and light the burner with a lighter or match at least 20cm long. This is not recommended for safety.
  • Replacing the battery: the ignition battery sits under the knob. Unscrew the cover, remove the old battery, taking care with the contacts, and fit a new AA 1.5V battery.
  • Preheating: the BBQ heats the plates quickly with a preheat of 5 to 6 minutes. Plates reach 100°C in about 3 minutes, 150°C in 6, 200°C in 9, 250°C in 13 and 275°C in 16 minutes.
  • Grilling: pour a little water into the fat collection trays before cooking, place the food directly on the cooking zone and adjust the burner as needed. Use MAX for red meat and MIN for white meat and vegetables.
  • Knob positions: the knob has MAX, MED and MIN positions (A, B and C) to match the food being cooked.
  • Approximate cooking times (knob at MED): sliced aubergines 8 minutes, peppers 20, sliced courgettes 11, fish (sea bream about 200g) 10, hamburgers 11, chicken steaks 5, porterhouse (2cm thick) 8 and sausages 6 minutes.
  • Plates: use the ribbed grill plate for meat and fish and the smooth plate for vegetables, making sure the burner deflector is in the right position before lighting.
  • Cooking with the lid (optional): the lid creates an oven effect for whole or half chickens, rolled roasts and large food. Light the burner with the lid open, do not close it while in use, and make sure the gas tap is closed before closing the lid after cooking. The lid thermometer must not go past the red mark, about 300°C. If it does, lower the burners to minimum or turn one or more off.
  • After cooking: turn the knobs fully clockwise to closed and close the gas cylinder valve or gas supply.
  • Safety: never use the BBQ indoors or in an enclosed area, do not remove the plates while cooking, do not move the BBQ while in use, do not place metal objects such as knives, forks or lids on it, and do not use it in direct wind over 8 knots (13km/h). Keep children away as accessible parts become very hot.

Installation & Requirements
  • Built-in installation: build the BBQ into a non-combustible enclosure in accordance with AS/NZS 5601. Suitable materials include masonry, granite, marble, Hardiplank or Villaboard on a metal or brick structure rated to at least 200°C.
  • Recess size: the cut-out is 1010 x 510mm. Apply the gasket supplied with the worktop to prevent liquids seeping under it.
  • Barrier below the BBQ: a non-combustible barrier panel must sit 30mm below the base of the unit, with a hole cut only for the gas hose.
  • Ventilation: the enclosure needs an open ventilation slot of 780 x 30mm in the front wall, and cylinder compartments need permanent openings that vent directly outside.
  • Clearances: keep combustible materials at least 600mm from the BBQ. With the lid fitted, leave at least 70mm to the rear and side walls and at least 1200mm overhead.
  • Gas cylinder: keep spare cylinders outdoors and not in the compartment, and use a compliant pressure regulator. Natural gas must be supplied at 5kPa.
  • Gas connection and conversion: installation, leak testing and any change between natural gas and LPG (replacing the injectors and setting the minimum flame) must be done by a licensed gas fitter.
  • Outdoor use only: use only in an above-ground open-air area with natural ventilation where gas leaks and combustion products disperse quickly. Never use indoors.
  • Lid installation: fitting the lid involves removing the plates, screwing the splash guards into the BBQ case, hooking on the heating shelf and sliding in the lid. See the user manual for the steps.
  • User manual: read the user manual thoroughly before installing or using the BBQ.

Extra Information

The HBBQ100 is built around three plates that come out individually, which is what makes it so easy to live with. Each 460 x 285mm plate is 8mm thick and sits over its own burner, so you can run a hot ribbed plate for steaks and sausages next to a smooth plate for eggs, onions and seafood, and lift any plate out for a proper clean at the sink.

It is available as a BBQ on its own or as a BBQ with the COPHBBQ100 stainless steel dome lid. The lid, with its built-in thermometer, adds oven-style cooking for whole chickens and rolled roasts, and it needs more clearance around the BBQ, with at least 70mm to the sides and rear and 1200mm overhead. If you plan to add a lid now or later, allow for that when you design your outdoor kitchen.

Because the BBQ is built in, plan the enclosure early. Cabinetry must be non-combustible and the front ventilation opening and barrier below the unit are essential. Natural gas or LPG can be used, and your licensed gas fitter will set the BBQ up for the fuel you choose.
