Product Overview

The Cook N Dine UltraDine Plus inlay is a compact built-in electric teppanyaki grill that sits neatly into a benchtop, outdoor kitchen, dining table or custom surface, bringing restaurant-style teppanyaki cooking to smaller spaces. It comes in two rectangular sizes: the MO-51 with a 504mm x 380mm surface and the MO-61 with a 610mm x 450mm surface, both ultra slim at 40 to 45mm high.

Each grill has a solid 304 stainless steel top that is cold pressed, hand-welded and finished in an elegant silk-brushed look. Its Shallow Dip Technology (ThermoFlex) creates a dual cooking zone with a wok-like effect, so you can sear, stir-fry and keep food warm on the same surface.

The MO-51 runs at 1800W from an 8A supply and the MO-61 at 2250W from a standard 10A power point, both at 230V with a 1-10 dial and thermostat for temperature control and a 3 metre power cord included. The control box is mounted out of sight inside the cabinet. Designed and engineered in Bavaria, Germany, they are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • ThermoFlex Shallow Dip Technology: the patented one-piece plate is flat when switched off, and when heated the centre dips gently to form a shallow cooking pit that keeps juices, marinades and sauces pooled where they are needed.
  • Hot cooking centre and warming zone: the centre heats up to around 230°C for searing and stir-frying, while the cooler outer area keeps cooked food warm.
  • Teppanyaki wok effect: cook stir-fries, curries, noodles, fried rice and saucy dishes in the dip, or add a little water and cover fish with a cloche to steam it.
  • Cooks everything: grill, fry, sauté, steam, roast or broil steaks, chops, sausages, prawns, fish, eggs, bacon, burger patties and vegetables, and even make pancakes, all on one surface.
  • Compact inlay design: a slim 40mm (MO-51) or 45mm (MO-61) cooktop that fits into compact kitchens, balconies, poolside cabanas, caravans, boats and holiday homes.
  • Two sizes: the MO-51 has about 1065 sq/cm of cooking area and the MO-61 has about 1774 sq/cm, for two people or for a small group.
  • Concealed control box: the Type B control box fixes out of sight inside the cabinet, with only a slim round plate carrying the 1-10 dial and green and yellow indicator lights on show.
  • 304 stainless steel top: 4mm thick food grade German stainless steel, cold pressed and hand-welded, with a silk-brushed finish that is hand finished and hard wearing.
  • Precise heat control: a 1-10 dial with a thermostat gives contact heat from 55 to 230°C, and the plate reaches cooking temperature in a few minutes.
  • Flame-free, indoor and outdoor use: the electric element needs no gas and no flame, and both data sheets list an IPX4 rating for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Energy efficient: about 1 kWh per meal, a low-energy alternative to a gas BBQ.
  • Safety approvals: CE, GS, VDE and ASNZS safety approvals, with UL approved electrical and electronic components.
Programmes / Functions
  • Temperature control: turn the 1-10 control dial to set the heat. A thermostat holds the temperature, and 2 indicator lights are fitted.
  • Contact heat range: 55°C to 230°C (130°F to 450°F) on the cooking surface.
  • Shallow dip: the flat plate dips gently at the centre as it heats, keeping juices and marinades in the cooking pit, and flattens back to its original shape as it cools.
  • Heat zones: the hot cooking centre reaches up to about 230°C, and the cooler edges are used to keep food warm or finish it gently.
  • First use seasoning: wipe the plate with a damp cloth and dry it, spread a thin coat of food-grade oil, then heat on medium-high for 5 to 10 minutes. Some light smoke is normal while the oil bonds to the steel. Let the plate cool slightly and wipe away excess oil.
  • Preheating: let the grill heat fully before adding oil or food. Flick a few drops of water on the plate: if they bead up and skitter across before evaporating, it is ready to cook.
  • Oil: use a thin, even film of a high smoke point oil such as rice bran, canola or grapeseed oil. Avoid olive oil, which burns at searing temperatures and can taste bitter.
  • Cooking order: cook proteins such as chicken thigh, beef strips, prawns and scallops first, then move on to vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, corn, Asian greens, bean sprouts and onion.
  • Sauces and marinades: add soy sauce, sesame oil or a marinade directly onto the plate. The dip keeps it pooled in the centre so it reduces and coats the food.
  • Steaming: add a little water to the centre of the plate, cover fish with a cloche and let the steam cook it gently.
  • Zone cooking: keep food moving with a spatula or tongs, and shift it between the hotter centre and the cooler edges to control how fast it cooks.
  • Cooling: when the surface cools it returns to a flat plate, ready for a simple wipe down.

  • Flush-mount: fit a 2mm sealing tape suitable for kitchen appliances to the benchtop, centre the grill in the cut-out so a consistent 2mm gap is left around the plate, fill the gap with kitchen silicone and wait at least 48 hours before switching on.
  • Top-mount: fit a 1mm sealing tape to the benchtop and centre the grill in the cut-out.
  • Preparation: clean the underside edges of the unit and the benchtop around the cut-out with rubbing alcohol or similar before fitting the sealing tape.
  • Control box: fasten the Type B control box firmly to a non-moving surface inside the cabinet or under the benchtop, using the supplied template. Do not open it, and do not snap, pull or twist the conduit.
  • Electrical requirement: 230V. The MO-51 is rated 1800W / 8A and the MO-61 is rated 2250W / 10A. Connect the 3 metre power cord firmly to the rear of the control box and plug it into a properly grounded power point. Check the control box label for the correct voltage. Installation should be carried out by a licensed electrician.
  • Warranty note: the warranty is void if the thermostat capillary tube inside the conduit is damaged, or if the control box is opened.

Extra Information

Cook N Dine's UltraDine Plus teppanyaki grills are designed and engineered in Germany and crafted by metal artisans in Weilheim, Bavaria. The cooking top is a single piece of silk-brushed 304 stainless steel, hand finished and built to last.

The inlay models are the most compact in the built-in range, which makes them a good fit for apartment balconies, caravans, boats and small entertaining areas where a full-size plate would not fit. Because they are flame-free they are also suited to buildings that restrict gas BBQs.

The MO-51 and MO-61 use the same controls and finish, so the choice comes down to the cooking area you need and the space in your benchtop. The MO-61 adds about 70% more cooking area and runs at 2250W, while the MO-51 draws 1800W from an 8A supply.
