Product Overview

The Artusi ACH12BBQB 120cm Wall-Mounted BBQ Hood is engineered for high-output outdoor cooking. Twin 198W fully sealed copper motors deliver up to 2000m³/h of extraction (1000m³/h per motor) to clear smoke, steam and cooking odours from larger BBQ setups, all behind a 304 stainless steel body with a black glass fascia.

Touch controls with an LCD display and a remote control give you three speed settings and a delay-off timer, while six integrated LED lights illuminate the full width of the cooking surface. Dishwasher-safe AS304 stainless steel baffle filters capture grease and are easy to remove for cleaning.

The hood mounts on the wall above the BBQ, measures 1200mm wide by 700mm deep and discharges through a 200mm air outlet, with two 500mm flue sections concealing the ducting. It connects to a standard 10 amp outlet through a 170cm power cord.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • Twin-motor extraction: Two 198W fully sealed copper motors deliver up to 2000m³/h in total, or 1000m³/h per motor, to clear heavy smoke, steam, grease and cooking odours from a larger BBQ area.
  • Fully sealed copper motors: Each motor is a fully sealed copper design, and each is ducted individually for dependable airflow.
  • Three speed settings: Match extraction to the cooking, from gentle grilling to heavy smoke. Artusi advises using a higher setting if you notice strong cooking smells.
  • Touch controls with LCD display: Simple touch operation with a clear LCD display. Buttons cover power, blower speed, speed up and down, lights and the delay-off timer.
  • Remote control: Adjust the hood from a distance while you cook. The remote works within the effective control area shown in the manual.
  • Six integrated LED lights: Six LED cooking lights illuminate the full width of the BBQ cooking surface, day or night.
  • Delay-off timer: Press and hold the set/timer button for about 2 seconds and the fans keep running for 3 minutes after you finish cooking before switching off.
  • AS304 baffle filters: Dishwasher-safe AS304 stainless steel baffle filters capture grease. Lift the latch, pull the filter down and remove it for cleaning.
  • 72dB(A) noise level: Rated at 72dB(A) on the specification sheet.
  • Full stainless steel construction: 304 stainless steel with a black glass fascia for a durable, professional outdoor kitchen finish.
  • 200mm air outlet: A large 200mm outlet carries high airflow into the ducting.
  • Two-piece flue: Two 500mm flue sections conceal the ducting above the hood, with a flue height range of 500-1000mm shown on the technical drawing.
  • Generous 1200mm width: Measures 1200mm wide by 700mm deep, covering a wide BBQ cooking surface.
  • Plug-in connection: Connects to a standard 240V, 10 amp outlet with a 10 amp plug and a 170cm power cord.
  • Overheat protection: A high-temperature safety device stops the motors if the hood is installed too close to the cooking surface or the area is not sufficiently ventilated.
  • Simple wall mounting: A single row of mounting holes, 460mm apart (230mm either side of the BBQ centre line), set at least 1010mm above the cooking surface.
  • Suitable for BBQ use: Artusi's manual states the range hood can be used over a BBQ.
Programmes / Functions
  • Power: Switches the hood on and off. The display backlight comes on when the hood is running.
  • Blower speed: The speed indicator shows the current blower speed (1 to 3). Use the increase and decrease buttons to change it to suit the cooking.
  • Increase and decrease: Raise or lower the blower speed, and adjust the time setting.
  • Light control: Turns the six LED cooking lights on and off. They are intended for use while cooking, not for prolonged general lighting, as prolonged use may shorten the life of the LEDs.
  • Delay-off timer: Press and hold the set/timer button for about 2 seconds to start the 3-minute delay-off timer, which keeps the fans running before they switch off.
  • Remote control: Operate the hood from a distance. Remove the battery film before first use, and use the remote within the effective control area shown in the manual.
  • High-heat cooking: Always turn the hood on when cooking at high heat, and never leave surface cooking unattended at high settings.
  • Speed selection: If you notice a strong cooking smell, move up to a higher fan speed.
  • Overheat protection: A high-temperature safety device stops the motors if the hood is installed too close to the cooking surface or the area is not sufficiently ventilated. Motors stopping after a few minutes is a sign to check ventilation and the 650mm minimum height above the cooking surface.
  • Pre-installation test: Plug in and test all functions before mounting the hood, with the filters removed to prevent damage during installation.
  • Filters and grills in place: Always leave the safety grills and filters in place when operating the hood so the blowers cannot catch hair, fingers or loose clothing.
  • Troubleshooting: If the hood does not turn on, check the plug is connected. If it vibrates, check the installation and tighten the mounting screws. If airflow is poor, clean the baffle filters. If oil drips onto the BBQ, wash the saturated filters. For a damaged power cord, motors that run with no airflow, a whirring sound, or lights or fans not working, contact a technician.

Installation & Requirements
  • Qualified installation: Installation and all electrical work must be carried out by a qualified person in line with applicable codes and standards. Two installers are recommended because of the hood's size and 38kg weight.
  • Ducted extraction only: The hood must be ducted to the outdoors using metal ductwork. Each motor needs to be ducted individually. Use 200mm duct and do not reduce the diameter, as a narrower duct reduces airflow.
  • Duct runs: Rigid or semi-rigid duct with a short run and minimal bends performs best. Flexible ribbed duct is discouraged. Keep runs to about 5 metres or fit an in-line motor (TD500 or TD350) about 1 metre from the external vent, on a separate switch.
  • Mounting height: Allow at least 650mm between the cooking surface and the hood. Mark the mounting holes at least 1010mm above the cooking surface, 230mm either side of the BBQ's centre line. Use the greater of the hood and cooktop clearances, with at least 600mm above the highest burner of a gas appliance.
  • Level and secure: The hood must be level to operate correctly. Use fixings and hole sizes suitable for 38kg, and lift it into place with two people.
  • Electrical: Requires an earthed 240V, 10 amp power point that stays accessible without removing covers. Use the supplied 170cm power cord and keep it clear of the flue sections.
  • Flue sections: Fit the two 500mm flue sections over the ducting, positioning the flue bracket as high as possible and taking care not to damage the power cord.
  • Gas appliances: Ensure adequate ventilation when the hood runs with gas or other fuel burning appliances. After installation, have any flued gas appliances tested by a competent person to confirm there is no back flow of combustion gases.
  • Intended use: For exhausting cooking fumes in domestic installations only.

Extra Information

The ACH12BBQB is Artusi's 120cm twin-motor wall-mounted hood for outdoor BBQ areas. Two 198W fully sealed copper motors deliver 2000m³/h in total, with touch controls, an LCD display, a remote control, a 3-minute delay-off timer and six LED cooking lights in a 304 stainless steel and black glass body. Where a smaller BBQ is installed, the single-motor 90cm ACH9BBQB provides 850m³/h.

For the ACH12BBQB, the manual gives a single row of mounting holes, set at least 1010mm above the cooking surface and 230mm either side of the BBQ's centre line.

Each motor must be ducted individually to the outdoors using metal ductwork of 200mm diameter, and the duct should not be narrower than specified. Keep the run short with minimal bends. Artusi recommends a maximum duct length of about 5 metres, counting each 90° bend as 1 metre. Longer runs need a TD500 or TD350 in-line motor fitted about 1 metre from the external vent and run from a separate switch. The manual shows three duct exit options: rear, through the roof, or through the soffit or eave. Remove the tape from the duct's butterfly flaps and check they move freely before connecting the ducting.

The hood weighs 38kg, so use fixings and hole sizes suitable for that weight and lift it into place with two people. The manual states that the range hood can be used over a BBQ, and that it must be level, at least 650mm above the cooking surface, and at least 600mm above the highest burner of a gas appliance, using whichever clearance is greater. Two 500mm flue surrounds finish the installation: the lower one fits into the groove in the hood top and the second slides inside it and is secured to a flue bracket positioned as high as possible, taking care not to damage the power cord.

Always leave the filters and safety grills in place while the hood is running, switch it on whenever you cook at high heat, and never leave frying or high-heat cooking unattended. The hood is for domestic use only. It conforms with the WEEE Regulations and must not be disposed of as household waste. Take it to a recycling centre for electrical and electronic equipment. Please read the manual and the specification label on the product for further requirements.
