• Element control: Turn the knob on the front panel from the closed (O) position to a heat position from 1 to 11. The element heats more or less quickly depending on the position selected.
• Position 11 (full power): A slight click indicates the thermostat has been disabled and the element becomes red-hot quickly, ideal for fast grilling.
• Intermediate positions: Recommended for delicate dishes or when food needs to cook evenly through the inside.
• Lava rock pre-heat: For best results, pre-heat the lava rock for at least 10 minutes on position 1. This is especially recommended on first use to reduce the risk of food absorbing odours from the element.
• Grill pre-heat: Under most conditions the grill needs only about 20 minutes of pre-heating before cooking. Overheating produces excess smoke and burns food.
• Grilling: The cast-iron grill sections tilt forward so oil drains into the collection trays.
• High lid cooking: With the high lid closed, watch the thermometer and lift the lid if the reading exceeds 350°C.
• Lid use: The thin (low) lid must not be closed while the BBQ is in use, as heat can discolour and damage the lid and grill. In windy conditions, remove the thin lid.

• Qualified installation: Installation and the electrical connection must be carried out by qualified personnel in line with current regulations, with the BBQ disconnected from the power supply.
• Electrical: The installation must have an effective earth connection. The plug or omnipolar switch must be easily accessible once installed. Supply through a residual current device (RCD) of no more than 30mA is advised. The appliance must not be operated by an external timer or separate remote control.
• Power cable: If a cable must be replaced, use an oil-resistant type such as H05RN-F or H07RN-F. A damaged cable must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person.
• Cut-out and counter: 595 x 525mm cut-out in a counter at least 650mm deep. The manual also lists a 40mm minimum for the assembly surface (TOP). Apply the supplied sealant around the whole perimeter of the cut-out.
• Clearances: Keep combustible materials at least 600mm above the cooking surface and do not install on combustible materials. Allow 300mm on each side as shown in the installation drawing.
• Installation compartment: Can be built from combustible or non-combustible materials. Recommended materials include masonry, granite, marble, Hardiplank and Villaboard on a metal or brick structure.
• Island or wall installation: It suits an island unit or a bench with a splashback. When installed against a wall or fence, insulate combustible surfaces. Allow for the open lid and its protrusion.
• High lid clearance: A high lid needs at least 70mm clearance at the back between the rear panel and the cut-out so it can open.
• Lid fitting: Both lids attach with hinges to the outer frame using the supplied screws. Two people are recommended to fit the high lid, taking care not to scratch the outer profile.
• Use: Do not use charcoal or similar fuel. Wear protective gloves, never leave it unattended when on, and keep children under eight away unless continuously supervised.

This electric BBQ is sold in three configurations so you only pay for what you need. The BBQ + Flat Lid adds the ABBQMF3 slimline flat lid, and the BBQ + Roasting Hood adds the ABBQMH3 roasting dome with thermometer.

Artusi lists the ABBQMF3 and ABBQMH3 lids as stainless steel companion products for this BBQ, and canvas covers (BBQCOVER-60F for the flat lid and BBQCOVER-60H for the hood lid) are available separately. The manual lists a reflector and lava rock container and a cooking residue conveyor among the components. The 450mm height shown on Artusi's website differs from the 160mm on the spec sheet, so please confirm the cut-out and clearances against the manual before ordering.
