Smart SMA-DSG0010 Drop-In Side Burner Gas BBQ Cooktop

• Burner control: push down and turn the front control knob anticlockwise to HIGH to light the burner, then turn the knob between HIGH and LOW to adjust the heat.
• Electronic ignition: the Comfort electronic ignition lights the burner at the push of the knob. Keep the knob pressed for about 10 seconds until the flame is stable.
• Match lighting: if needed, place a lit match over the holes of the burner head, then push down and turn the knob to HIGH. If the burner does not light, turn off the gas, wait 5 minutes and try again.
• Cookware size: the burner is designed for pots and pans with a diameter of 60mm to 260mm.
• Lid use: always open the lid before lighting and never close it while the burner is operating. Do not light the burner with the lid closed, and do not use the lid as a work table or place items on it.
• Gas supply options: use it on its own with a regulator and hose (not included), or connect it to the gas hose of a compatible Smart BBQ so both run from one gas supply.
• Fuel setting: ready for LPG out of the box and convertible to natural gas by an authorised gas fitter following the user manual.

• Installation: Drop-in. The spec sheet lists certification for enclosed alfresco areas with a roof, 3 walls and 25% natural ventilation, with a range hood and optional interlock system recommended.

• Cut-out: cut a 405mm wide x 580mm deep opening with at least 390mm of clearance below the benchtop. Do not cut your cabinetry or benchtop until you have the side burner on site and have measured it, as the cut-out sizes are indicative only.
• Benchtop: the benchtop or substrate must support the side burner. A minimum thickness of 20mm is recommended.
• Clearances: allow 50mm at the front and 70mm at the rear, and maintain minimum clearances to combustible materials. The cabinet enclosure must be made of non-combustible material.
• Gas supply: on its own, the side burner needs a regulator and gas hose, which are not included. Alternatively, connect it to the gas hose of a compatible Smart BBQ using the regulator hose and connector.
• Gas piping: for a natural gas installation, use inlet piping with a minimum diameter of 15mm and fit a lever operated shut-off valve within 1 metre of the appliance. Any hose assembly must comply with AS/NZS 5601 and the manual.
• Gas connection: installation and any natural gas conversion must be done by a licensed gas fitter or plumber. After installation, check the whole connection for leaks with soapy water, never with an open flame.
• Ignition battery: the ignition needs 1 x AA battery, which is not included.
• Alfresco use: the spec sheet lists certification for enclosed alfresco areas with a roof, 3 walls and 25% natural ventilation. A range hood with an optional interlock system is recommended.
• User manual: read the user manual thoroughly before installing or using the side burner.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

The SMA-DSG0010 is designed to sit next to a drop-in BBQ and take over the jobs the grill does not do well. Moving a pot of sauce, a pan of onions or a wok to the side burner keeps the main plates free for steaks and seafood, and means you are not running back and forth to the indoor kitchen while guests are outside.

Both finishes share the same cast iron burner, grid, controls and cut-out size. Stainless Steel suits the natural stainless look of Smart's drop-in BBQs, and Black matches the black powder coated BBQ. Because the finish is the only difference, you can choose purely on how it looks with the rest of your outdoor kitchen.

Plan the gas supply early. The side burner can share the gas supply of a Smart BBQ or run from its own regulator and hose, but the regulator and hose are not included, and converting to natural gas needs a licensed gas fitter and a separate conversion kit. The manual also recommends cleaning the burner tube regularly, especially after a spell of not using it.
