• Burner control: four side-mounted control knobs with power level indicators set each burner independently, and each knob is lit with a blue LED.
• Lighting the BBQ: open the lid and check every knob is off, then push down and turn a knob anticlockwise to HIGH. The Comfort electronic ignition lights the burner, and you hold the knob for a few seconds. Never light the burners with the lid closed.
• First use: light all the main burners and run them on HIGH for 15 minutes with the lid closed to heat clean the internal parts and dissipate odour from the finish. Some colour change in the cooking area is normal.
• Roasting with the hood closed: the double-skinned hood holds heat and the integrated thermostat shows the temperature inside the cavity. With the hood closed and all burners on, keep them on the LOW flame position.
• Open grill plate: for direct-heat grilling of steaks, sausages, chops and vegetables.
• Solid flat plate: for flat-top cooking such as eggs, onions, seafood and burgers, and it reverses for a smooth or ridged finish.

• Cut-out: cut a 980mm wide x 580mm deep opening with at least 390mm of clearance below the benchtop. Do not cut your cabinetry or benchtop until you have the BBQ on site and have measured it, as the cut-out sizes are indicative only.
• Benchtop: the counter must be at least 700mm deep and support the weight of the BBQ. A minimum thickness of 20mm is recommended. Engineered stone benchtops are permitted if they tolerate temperatures up to 120°C.
• Compartment: the installation compartment must be non-combustible (for example brick, granite, marble, Hardiplank or Villaboard on a metal or brick frame). A non-combustible barrier panel must sit 30 to 35mm below the base of the BBQ, and the front wall of the compartment needs ventilation openings that are never blocked.
• Clearances: allow 50mm at the front and 70mm at the rear. For indoor installation, keep combustible materials at least 1500mm overhead, 250mm at the sides and 200mm at the rear.
• Cabinetry access: the cabinetry must allow front access underneath the BBQ to clean and remove the oil tray.
• Gas cylinder: do not place the gas cylinder directly underneath the BBQ. If it is stored in the cabinet it needs its own divided zone, isolated by a non-combustible panel, and the maximum cylinder size is 9kg.
• Gas connection: installation and any natural gas conversion must be done by a licensed gas fitter or plumber. The supplied regulator is fitted for natural gas (set to 1.0 kPa) and a test point adaptor is used for LPG (set to 2.75 kPa). The conversion kits do not include the female bayonet fitting for wall connection, which your gas fitter or plumber must supply.
• Power: the supplied transformer connects to a 230-240V power point and must be placed well away from the BBQ. The ignition also needs 1 x AA battery, which is not included.
• Range hood: for indoor installation and enclosed alfresco areas, fit a commercial style range hood or extraction fan moving at least 2000m³ of air per hour, with the filter no closer than 1200mm to the cooking surface (1200mm minimum to 1600mm maximum if an interlock is fitted).
• Outdoor and alfresco areas: the BBQ is certified for both outdoor (AGA 9106) and indoor (IAPMO GMKI0936) installation. Outdoors it needs natural ventilation, and an enclosed alfresco must meet the manual's opening requirements, with an interlock recommended.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. The 4000DG-SL is designed for people building an outdoor kitchen who want the BBQ to sit flush with the benchtop rather than stand above it. The slimline hood keeps the lines low, and because it is double skinned it behaves more like an oven when closed, holding a steadier temperature for roasting. The hood thermostat takes the guesswork out of those longer cooks.

The two finishes use the same BBQ underneath: both are 304 stainless steel with the same burners, plates and controls, and the Black model adds a black powder coated finish. The same spec sheet specifications and cut-out sizes apply to both, so you can choose purely on the look of your outdoor kitchen.

Plan the gas supply early. The BBQ is set up for LPG from the factory and can be converted to natural gas, but the conversion must be done by a licensed gas fitter, and the natural gas conversion kit and a wall bayonet fitting are not included. It also pairs with a range hood and an optional interlock system when installed in an enclosed alfresco area.
