Product Overview

The Whirlpool WS91I9SPX is a 90cm electric freestanding cooker in Inox, pairing an XXL 133L pyrolytic oven with a five-zone induction hob. Induction technology heats the pan rather than the hob, which reduces wasted energy and speeds up cooking, with 9 power levels plus Booster, a FlexiDuo function that combines two zones for large or oval cookware, auto pan detection and a lock function on the black tempered glass hob.

The grey enamel oven offers conventional, convect bake, forced air, pizza, multi-cook, air fry, delicate cook, grill, maxi grill, turbo grill, eco forced air and defrost functions across 5 shelf positions, with a three-layer glass door and two convection fans. Flexi Clean lets you choose between Pyrolytic self-cleaning at high heat or Smart Clean (hydrolytic) steam cleaning. It is supplied with a telescopic rail, grill rack, baking tray and air fry basket, measures 900mm x 600mm x 900mm and is rated at 220-240V or 380-415V 3N~ (maximum 9,000-9,600W). It is supplied without a power cord or plug and must be installed by a qualified installer.

Whirlpool appliances are distributed in Australia by Arisit Pty Limited.

Product Details & Specifications

Product Features
  • 133L XXL oven capacity: a very large electric oven with a grey enamel cavity and 5 shelf positions, with all the space you need for large roasts and multiple trays.
  • Five induction zones: three 1,800W zones (2,100W with Booster), a 1,200W zone (1,500W with Booster) and a 2,300W zone (3,500W with Booster), across 9 power levels. Induction heats the pan, not the hob, for faster and more energy-efficient cooking.
  • FlexiDuo: combine two cooking zones and use them at the same power, covering the whole area with a large pot or part of it with a round or oval pot. A single pot can be moved over the entire area.
  • Flexi Clean: choose Pyrolytic self-cleaning, which burns food residue to ash for an easy wipe-down, or hydrolytic Smart Clean, which uses low-temperature steam to loosen dirt.
  • Air Fry: an advanced convection function used with the supplied air fry basket, giving crisp results without turning the food or using much oil.
  • Multi-Cook: uses the top and circle heating elements with the fan to cook several dishes at the same temperature on up to 2 racks.
  • Two convection fans: fan-assisted heat distribution through the large cavity for even results.
  • Telescopic rail: the supplied pair of telescopic runners makes it easier to check on food and slide heavy trays and casseroles in and out.
  • Auto pan detection: the hob only heats when a suitable pan is on the zone, with a residual heat indicator for safety.
  • Child Lock: locks the oven control panel, and it can also be activated during cooking.
  • Sensor touch controls: a white LED display with clock, timer, delayed start, Fast Preheat and favorites.
  • Three-layer glass door: an efficient, insulated door with a removable door and inner glass for cleaning.
  • Grill rack, baking tray and air fry basket included: ready to use straight out of the box.
  • Safety chains and levelling feet: two safety chains are supplied and mounted to the oven to prevent tipping, and the feet adjust the height and level.
Programmes / Functions

Oven functions (per the Whirlpool use and care guide):

  • Conventional: upper and bottom heating elements, 30°C to 260°C, for cooking any kind of dish on one shelf only.
  • Convect Bake: top and bottom heating elements with the fan for constant heat distribution, 30°C to 260°C. Recommended for cooking pre-packaged food quickly.
  • Forced Air: rear heating element and fan for even heat, 30°C to 260°C. Ideal for baking and cooking delicate food on 3 shelves at the same time, such as cakes that need to rise, cream puffs, biscuits, savoury puffs, swiss rolls and small vegetable gratins.
  • Pizza: forced air and bottom heating elements circulate hot air for even cooking and melted toppings, while the bottom element gives a crispy base.
  • Defrost: bottom heating with the fan circulating room temperature air, to speed up defrosting of delicate foods such as ice cream, cakes, cream, custard desserts and fruit cakes. For meat, fish and bread, the guide recommends Forced Air to accelerate the process.
  • Grill: radiant heat from the powerful upper element, 80°C to 230°C. Recommended for tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish and cheese toasts. Preheat for 3 minutes and slide the grill dish into either of the 2 spaces within the upper pair of support rails.
  • Maxi Grill: direct radiant heat from 2 powerful upper elements, 80°C to 230°C, cooking faster than the normal grill. Preheat for 3 minutes to help seal in the natural juices of the meat.
  • Turbo Grill: top central heating with the fan, 80°C to 230°C. The grill element cycles on and off to hold the set temperature while the fan circulates hot air, and it is recommended for large cuts of meat without needing to turn them over. Place the food on the 2nd or 3rd rack with the deep tray on the lowest shelf.
  • Multi-Cook: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 50°C to 260°C. Cooks various dishes at the same time at the same temperature, using a maximum of 2 racks. Recommended for gratin finishes and prolonged cooking such as lasagne, baked pasta, roast chicken and potatoes, as well as fish, vegetable side dishes and leavened cakes.
  • Air Fry: top and circle heating elements with the fan, 150°C to 230°C, used with the air fry basket. Suitable for french fries, chicken wings and nuggets without having to turn the food.
  • Delicate Cook: bottom heating element and fan, 50°C to 230°C, suited to pastries, cakes and non-dry sweets in baking tins. Place the food on a low level.
  • Eco Forced Air: rear heating element and fan with gentle, intermittent air circulation, 40°C to 230°C, to stop food drying out. The light stays off during cooking and the door should not be opened until the food is cooked, to optimise power consumption.
  • Smart Clean: a low-temperature steam cleaning cycle. Remove all accessories, pour 150ml of drinking water on the bottom of the cold oven, set the function at 220°C for 20 to 30 minutes, then let it cool and wipe with a wet cloth.
  • Pyrolytic Clean: a very high temperature self-cleaning cycle that burns off cooking spatters, with three durations: Low (approx. 2 hours), Medium (approx. 2.5 hours) and Strong (approx. 3 hours). Use the quicker cycle regularly and the full cycle only when heavily soiled.

Controls and daily use:

  • Oven control panel: On/Off, temperature, function, time, lamp and Fast Preheat buttons with a display and navigation buttons to adjust settings.
  • Hob control panel: ON/OFF, Boost, FlexiDuo, heating zone selection, power and timer controls (+ and -), a timer control and a lock.
  • FlexiDuo: press the FlexiDuo button to combine two cooking zones at the same power. The function remains on, and a single pot can be moved over the whole area. Press FlexiDuo again to deactivate it.
  • Set the time: the display shows 12:00 on first use. Use the navigation buttons to set the hour, confirm with the time button, then set the minutes. The clock can only be set when the oven is in standby.
  • Duration and end time: set a cooking duration and delay the start by programming the end time. The oven starts automatically once set.
  • Fast Preheat: short press the Fast Preheat button after starting a program. It works only when the set temperature is over 100°C, and a beep sounds when preheating is done.
  • Favorites: save a function with its temperature and time as a favorite by holding the favorites button for 2 seconds. A new setting overwrites the previous one.
  • Child Lock: press and hold the lock buttons for 3 seconds to lock the control panel. It can also be activated during cooking.
  • Residual heat indicator: stays on until the hotplate drops below 60°C.

Extra Information

This is the induction and pyrolytic version of the 90cm Whirlpool freestanding cooker, suited to larger kitchens where the cook wants fast, responsive hob control and an oven that largely cleans itself. The hob's FlexiDuo function is worth knowing about: pressing the FlexiDuo button joins two zones so a large pot, or an oval or rectangular pan, can be placed anywhere across the area and heated at one power setting, and when a single pot is used it can be moved around the whole surface. Induction cookware must be compatible, flat-bottomed and slightly larger than the zone, with no more than 50mm of overhang.

The oven has two self-cleaning options, so you can match the clean to the mess. Smart Clean uses 150ml of water at 220°C for 20 to 30 minutes on a cold oven, while the Pyrolytic cycle runs for roughly 2, 2.5 or 3 hours. Before a Pyrolytic cycle, take out every accessory and the shelf guides, wipe out heavy residue, clean the inner door glass, and make sure any hotplates are switched off. The use and care guide's cooking table gives helpful starting points, such as a 1kg roast veal or beef at 200°C for 70 to 75 minutes on level 3, a pork roast at 200°C for 70 to 80 minutes, a 1.5kg grilled chicken at 200°C for 55 to 60 minutes, and a seared scotch fillet steak at 220°C for about 8 minutes.

The cooker can be wired to either a single-phase 220-240V or a three-phase 380-415V 3N~ supply, so the installing electrician will need to confirm which is available. The cooling fan keeps running after a cooking program finishes, and a fault code of HE1 on the display indicates a temperature sensor error that needs a service call. Never place cookware, foil or anything else on the bottom of the cavity, which can damage the enamel, and do not line the oven with foil. The cooker is for household use only, not for professional or outdoor use, and it should not be used if the hob glass is cracked.
